Technology Woman of the Year Award Eligibility and Criteria

Eligibility

Any woman who works with data, processes, and implementation of information systems, including telephone systems, computer infrastructures, applications development, data integration, wireless or mobile applications and devices, e-business, or e-commerce/m-commerce is eligible for this award. Additionally, women working in the fields of optics and engineering disciplines are also eligible for this Technology award, as Digital Rochester recognizes Rochester’s deep roots in research, development, and manufacturing within these high-profile verticals.
Women nominated for this award must work within the Greater Rochester metropolitan area (includes Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, and Wayne counties).
Nominees may be from the corporate sector, vendors, not-for-profits, government, or educational institutions. Previous recipients may not be nominated for this award, but previous nominees may be nominated again. The recipient will be selected for her impact to the Technology profession, as demonstrated by:
  • Sustained contributions to the field
  • Contributions advancing the status, opportunities, and employment for women in the Technology profession
  • Community service

Nomination Process

  • All Nominees and a guest will be invited to a private TWY Nominee Reception held prior to the TWY Awards Breakfast.
  • The Technology Woman of the Year will be announced at the TWY Awards Breakfast.

Evaluation Categories, Criteria, and Weighting

Sustained contributions to the Technology profession – Demonstrated impact to the profession, as illustrated by length of time in the profession, highest level achieved, details of projects/contributions, professional organization memberships/year joined/ service or positions held, technical publications and presentations (including where delivered), degrees/concentrations, and special assignments – 40%
Contributions advancing the status, opportunities, and employment for women in the Technology profession – Demonstrated contributions to women, as illustrated by mentoring activities, hiring practices, developmental publications and presentations, etc. – 50%
Contributions to the community – Support for and involvement in the community, as illustrated by volunteer activities, developing new programs, providing leadership services to community organizations, or influencing the goals of those organizations – 10%
